Nights On the Canal in Richmond

Photo by Robin Jonathan Deutsch on Unsplash

The lights shine bright,

Alone at night,

As I walk the canal,

In Downtown Richmond,

Boats go up and down the James,

Which we know is Virginia’s claim to fame,

The fall line is near,

The rushing sound is constant in my ear,

As I sit alone,

The noise to hear,

Trains go by,

The mood is young,

The night is high,

Walk down the street,

And the music sweet,

The river city is jumping tonight,

Tour boats sail,

The river runs deep,

The lights shine bright upon the James,

On the shores,

Of this lovely river,

That is the Capital of this State.
